Green Acres

Wow.

What a busy weekend we had.

Crissy actually had a life!

On Friday we had a birthday party for my husband. He’s 34 now and that changes his official title from “husband” to “old husband.”

Until I turn 34 in June and then we just drop the whole “old” bit.

My daughter, myself.

We both stuffed as much chocolate cake as we could into our mouths because it was so yummy. After that we both got drunk and actually wound up stripping off all our clothes and rolling around in it under the table.

Not really.

Help! Help! I’m being oppressed!

Later that night I was the victim of a brutal attack when Bren didn’t want his picture taken.

On Saturday the sun finally came out and we all went outside to nurse our hangovers do some work in the yard.

Alice had a good fur day and she was feeling fine with her new scarf on.

And Girlfriend is so accustomed to wearing a hat and mittens when she goes outside that she insisted on wearing them even though it was 70 degrees out.

Here she is in her sandbox making “marshmallow soup with pine needles, brick, and muds.” Mmmmmmm…sounds de-lish Girlfriend!

And then I got all Martha Stewart-y and dug a new flower bed where I planted zinnias, cosmos, sugar snap peas, hyacinth, sunflowers, and some purple flower I forgot the name of.

But then my grandfather said it’s way to early to plant my flower seeds and they will probably not come up.

Oh.

And then I pounded bricks into the ground to make a border.

Look at me acting all butch, banging stuff with that orange hammer thingy.

But the entire time all I could think about was how I could glam it up because garden clothes are just icky. cloud.jpg

Girlfriend finally ditched the hat which is good because it’s one less piece of clothing I’m going to have to throw away.

I don’t think any kid has ever been dirtier, like, ever.

While pushing her little wheelbarrow she could be heard singing “hel-ping, hel-ping, hel-ping!” _MG_2940_resize.JPG

Awwww. Best friends.

And then two seconds later Girlfriend smashed poor Alice in the head with a plastic shovel and had to go inside to the naughty step.

And on Sunday I woke up singing the theme song from Green Acres, so I decided to glam it up a bit like only I can. I poured myself a little mar-tooni and went back to work on my bulb project. lush-garden.gif

Darling I love you, but give me Park Avenue!

What did you do this weekend?

  1. your daughter is too cute.

this weekend included laziness and also being asked by a homeless man in providence if i was a spy. because i had a camera around my neck. around his neck was a wool rainbow scarf, and it was 72 degrees outside. not sure which one of us was more suspicious.

  2. Let’s see I brought up my new website. I wnet to a birthday party for a niece and watched children run wild through a play ground, then went on a major grocery splurge with my mom and had a buddy take the whole family out for breakfast. Busy. Looks like you were having fun though.

happy birthday old husband. I am not that far behind you or you Crissy. I will be 34 in Sept.

  3. Ashley- Are you kidding me? The homeless dude with the wacky scarf is way stranger than you!

Neth- Whatever. I like my name for it better.

Chris- The naughty step is a place where very naughty girls go to sit and think about how naughty they have been. Sometimes the naughty step is combined with a little spanking…

  4. Ha! Girlfriend is giving you a “You’re fucking strange, lady!” look in the last pic as she walks by.

As for my weekend – I have no life, so I went to Cracker Barrell, Target, Home Depot, Walmart & Whole Foods. Oh and a couple trips to Uno’s because sadly that’s what my social life consists of.

  5. K2- Ha, ha, ha, ha! It’s funny you say that because she kept asking me what I was doing. Your weekend looks a lot like most of mine except you have a more interesting social life. I drink in my kitchen. Seriously.

  6. Ummm, I’m not sure we can be friends. I’m 34. And I’m not old. Gah!

Better the girlfriend insists on wearing a hat when it’s 70 than a bikini when it’s 20, right?

When I have a garden one day, will you come over to teach me how to play? You seem to know how to do it right!

  7. Nilsa- I will absolutely come and play in the garden with you. Just don’t ask me to plant any seeds because apparently I’m a real screw up when it comes to that.

Kiala- NO WAY! Your blog is way better than mine! And your hair even looks good when you’re sleeping! I hate you. I mean I love you. I mean I hate you because I love you so much.

  8. Jim- Good boy. Always be kind to mama. And of course I know it’s you, who else would it be Movie Whore?

Arielle- My husband has a very nice camera (don’t even get me started on how many monies it cost!) with super fast shutter speed and he just holds down the button and it takes like a million pictures which he then pastes into a movie. They are sort of freaky aren’t they?

  9. The feather boa was the perfect glam it up touch. Maybe if I had a boa I’d be more willing to garden…that and a bottle of wine.

I enjoyed my sunny weekend by going to the tulip fields and instead of taking pictures of the pretty flowers I took pictures of the asian tourists’ weird outfits.

  10. Meg-I expect to see those pictures on your blog young lady!

Melissa- I couldn’t agree with you more. Mostly, I like to wear my tiara paired with a fur stole when I clean toilets, but I’m considering wearing it 24/7.
